I have been Beta testing SmarterTrack 5 (ST5) for well over a month and the product is rock solid and packed with new features. SmarterTools has said they are moving ST5 into a complete CRM package. So far, the progress has been great. NDD Clients wishing to upgrade should contact us as this is not a mandatory upgrade. Here is what to expect from SmarterTrack 5.x. New Features: Call Logging SmarterTrack’s ability to track customer communications across all channels is complete with the addition of call logging. Agents and managers can track both incoming and outgoing phone calls; associate tasks, tickets, and live chats to calls; and view detailed call reports that track call volume and duration for inbound and outbound calls. Task Management System Help agents stay on top of their workflow with a new task management system that allows agents and managers to create tasks and track work associated to a specific ticket, call, or live chat. Mobile Interface Functionality(Enterprise Version only) SmarterTrack 5.x provides managers with the ability to monitor agents’ tickets and allows agents to manage their tickets and live chats via mobile devices. This functionality is made possible through a WAP interface that works across all major mobile phones, including Android, iPhone, and Windows Mobile devices. Enhanced Ticket Management SmarterTrack 5.x includes several enhancements to its ticket system, including the ability to add attachments to tickets without sending a response, the ability to modify an auto-responder’s subject format, and the ability to mark a ticket for follow-up. Follow-ups With follow-ups, companies can keep in constant contact with both existing and new customers. Integrated with the events system, follow-ups notify agents when customers haven’t responded or need additional service. Live Chat Attachments SmarterTrack 5.x improves the level of communication between employees and customers with the ability to send and receive files via live chat. Additional Event Categories Configure notifications based on even more agent-level and system-level events, including task events, live chat events, call log events, POP events, and SMTP events. Knowledge Base Enhancements Several enhancements to the knowledge base improve article organization and navigation. Agents will also benefit from the ability to perform bulk operations on news items, canned replies, and knowledge base articles. Updated Web Services New Web services available for SmarterTrack 5.x include the ability to query tickets based on a wide variety of search criteria and the ability to retrieve brand information. In addition, existing Web services were updated to enhance functionality and make them easier to use.

The release of DotNetNuke 5.4.2.  5.4.2 is a monthly stabilization release which addresses a couple dozen issues with the 5.4 release.  Because of the 5.4.1 release, the 5.4.2 release cycle was shortened which meant that a few high profile issues were not able to make the cutoff for this release.  We expect to address those issues in the 5.4.3 release due out in June.  This release also includes numerous code contributions and bug fixes submitted by the community.  We will be working closely with the community on the 5.4.3 release in order to further scale the number of issues we can get addressed in that release. As usual, you can see the full list of changes for this release on the changelog. Major Highlights Improved performance of Sql script for listing modules by portal. Improved DeleteModule method to handle instances where object may be null. Increased the size of the Admin - Pages list box to cater for sites with a large number of pages. Updated the Installation Wizard's Polish & German language packs. Fixed issue with emailing Vendor details to the Admin and conformation details to the Vendor. Fixed issue where Sitemap does not work if globalisation culture is a culture that uses comma as separator Fixed issue with missing type specification in SiteMapSettings. Fixed issue where upgrade fails when site has a non-'en-US' default language Fixed issue with link editor showing pages the user does not have View permissions for. the release of DotNetNuke 5.4.1 which corrects the major issues which slipped through the QA process for 5.4.  While we try to do a good job in testing our releases, our recent efforts for 5.3 and 5.4 have fallen short of the mark.  We are currently working with a small team of commercial module developers and the core team to put a better public beta testing process in place that will help augment our own internal testing.  Ultimately, community testing is the only testing that truly scales, and we have struggled with how to effectively use the community even while keeping to a tight release schedule.  While this is not as critical for our stabilization releases where we seem to have no difficulty achieving an acceptable level of quality, it is absolutely essential that we have community feedback and testing of our quarterly feature releases. As usual, you can see the full list of changes for this release on the changelog. Major Highlights Fixed issue with assembly version type. Fixed issue with multiple cancel buttons on Add User screen. Fixed issue with version number in Symbols package manifest. Fixed issue where system mails are sent from the recipient's email address instead of admin email address. Fixed issue with logo in Ribbon Bar. Fixed issue with race condition when adding entries to shared Dictionaries. Fixed issue with scheduler exceptions when more than one language is defined. Fixed issue when creating portals in non en-us culture. Fixed issue with adding a new language. Fixed issue with AJAX Script Manager Fixed issue with Source Package not opening correctly in Visual Studio. Fixed issue when logging into a multi-language portal when the user's preferred locale is not set. Fixed issue with generation of user links to use new Profile page. Updated version of Symbols package in manifest file. Improved 5.4.0 and 5.4.1 upgrade scripts to better handle upgrades when multiple languages are installed. Added label explaining portal localization drop-down on site settings. Updated static localization text to more friendly form. Added missing release notes for 5.4.   Security Fixes None Updated Modules/Providers The following modules and providers have been updated in the 5.2.0 packages.
